Many Malaysians returned as experts after New Zealand education, says High Commissioner
SUBANG JAYA: Many Malaysians who have studied in New Zealand have returned home to use their skills and knowledge as experts in their fields, says the country's High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Star Education Fair 2022 and the myStarJob Fair 2022, Pam Dunn said that Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Othman is an example of one such Malaysian.
"She was the first Malaysian woman to gain a PhD at Otago University. She then returned home as Malaysia’s first astrophysicist and later pioneered this country’s space programme,” said Dunn.
Dunn added that an education in New Zealand empowers Malaysian students with the life skills and confidence to succeed.
“I believe we will continue seeing many more future Malaysian leaders returning with that same experience,” she said.
Education New Zealand and eight of their university representatives will be present for the first time at the fair to share with students about the upcoming intakes and requirements to study in the country.
